How I build clinical & emotional support & manage medications
The only medical professionals involved in my care that aren’t totally against this diet are my cardiologist and my therapist. My cardiologist monitors my heart every year (I’m a lean mass hyper-responder) and I check in with my LMFT every few weeks. I did a slow, hyperbolic taper off my SSRI while beginning the ketogenic diet. I did this on my own because my prescriber suggested I just stop taking it cold turkey. I was tapering when I started metabolic therapy. I had what I thought was a return of my symptoms, but ended up being part of withdrawal of the SSRI. I managed this with L-Theanine and sometimes PRN anti-anxiety medication.
Integration
Lab results I track & supplements I take
Yes, I supplement, but am not consistent about them. I take NAC, L-Theanine, Beef Organs, Bone Matrix, Vitamin C, and a multivitamin. I see my endocrinologist regularly since I do not have a thyroid. So 2-3x a year I test CBC, CMP, Thyroid Panel, and Lipids.
Nutritional
How I eat, incorporate fasting, & approach macronutrients
Ketogenic diet with some carb cycling during the luteal phase or very active days. I aim for 70% fat with as little carbs as possible, but this is tough as I do not eat dairy, nuts, or seeds and rely on added MCT or avocado oil to hit that goal. 16:8. Sticking to this fasting schedule is easy, but navigating the food offerings for social settings and holidays can be tough. Many times I eat before a social event and try to stick to just the meat if eating out.
Ketosis
Target ketone levels & testing methods
Yes Keto Mojo once or twice a day and I aim for anything over 1.5 mmol/L.
