This study looked at people with both type 2 diabetes and depression, finding that standard treatments might not work as well for them. It tested whether adding a diabetes drug called pioglitazone (which improves insulin sensitivity) could help boost the effectiveness of antidepressants. Results showed that those who took pioglitazone with their antidepressant had better outcomes than those using other diabetes medications, suggesting a tailored treatment approach that considers insulin resistance could be more effective.
